Mempro™ Plant-Based Major Facilitator Superfamily (MFS) Production

Inquiry

Creative Biostructure has established Mempro™ membrane protein production platform through years of experience, we can provide high-quality and high-yield major facilitator superfamily (MFS) proteins using plant-derived expression system.

Scientists from Creative Biostructure can perform perfect membrane protein production services using various types of plant hosts, such as Nicotiana benthamiana (tobacco), Medicago rativa (alfalfa), Arabidopsis thaliana (A. thaliana), potato, maize, barley and lettuce. There are two different strategies can be used for membrane protein production in plants: transient expression and stable transformation. Creative Biostructure can select either strategy to generate recombinant membrane proteins according to customers’ demands.

MFS comprises numerous membrane protein families, which is one of the largest superfamilies of transmembrane transporters. It is reported that MFS transporters enable to transport various small compounds through cell membranes. MFS transporters exist ubiquitously in all the kingdoms of life for the cross-membrane transportation of certain substrates. Members of MFS perform the transmembrane movements such as sugar take-up, drug efflux, Krebs cycle metabolites, amino acid transportation, oxyanions transportation, and so on. The MFS control transport of small molecules through two approaches: one is serve as the uniporter by using electrochemical gradient of the target substrate; the other one is combined to the movement of a second substrate as a co-transporter.

Our Mempro™ plant-based membrane protein production platform owns a lot of advantages, such as animal-free, low protease activity, and low endotoxin. Animal-free recombinant membrane proteins are particularly crucial for customers concerned with experimental variables caused by trace animal components or mammalian pathogens. Most notably, recombinant membrane proteins expressed by our plant system are free of animal components, serum, endotoxins and antibiotics as well as human or animal infectious agents or other endogenous mammalian contamination. Additionally, post-translational modification such as glycosylation and disulfide bonds can be introduced in plant system.

With the Mempro™ plant-based protein production platform, Creative Biostructure is capable of expressing, isolating and purifying MFS transporters to facilitate the study of their biological functions. We can overcome the common difficulties encountered in cell-based expression system, such as misfolding, aggregation, inactivity, high endotoxin, poor stability and solubility, etc.

Creative Biostructure can also provide Mempro™ plant-based virus-like particles (VLPs) production services, Mempro™ animal-free recombinant protein production services and Mempro™ membrane protein production services. Please feel free to contact us for a detailed quote.
