Mempro™ Cell-Based Bet V1-Like Protein Production

Based on the comprehensive protein engineering platform established through years of experiences, scientists form Creative Biostructure can now provide custom Mempro™ Bet v1-like superfamily protein production services based on cell-based expression system.

Mempro™ cell-based protein production system is widely used for the production of integral membrane proteins, such as G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) and ion channels. Bet v1-like superfamily protein is known as the major white birch (Betula verrucosa) pollen allergen, which is the prototype for the PR-10 protein family of plant pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins. It is shown that Bet v1-like protein from birch pollen is a lipocalin-like protein. Bet v1-like superfamily has a TATA binding protein (TBP)-like fold containing beta-alpha-beta(4)-alpha structural domain. Proteins possessing Bet v1-like fold have been found to be involved in lipid transport or metabolism and pathogenesis as well as other biological functions, such as biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, degradation of aromatic compounds, and antibiotic resistance.

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the most widely used bacterial host for the production of Bet v1-like superfamily proteins . Yeast cells (such as saccharomyces cerevisiae and pichia pastoris) system, combines prokaryotic as well as eukaryotic characteristics. It is a powerful eukaryotic host owing to single cells, fast growth rates, inexpensive media, high cell densities. Insect cells (such as Sf9, Sf21 and High Five) are also a major system for Bet v1-like superfamily protein expression, which are developed from transfected insect cells in combination with vectors derived from the baculovirus species AcMNPV. Mammalian cells present another eukaryotic system for Bet v1-like superfamily protein expression, which provide near-native cell environment. Cell lines derived from COS, CHO, BHK-21, HEK293, HeLa and GH3 are widely used for membrane protein expression.
