CoA-dependent acyltransferase, is also termed glycerophospholipid acyltransferase, the substrates of which are 1-organyl-2-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and 1-organyl-2-lyso-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine, whereas its two final products are 1-organyl-2-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine and 1-organyl-2-lyso-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine. Most notably, CoA-dependent acyltransferase is a superfamily which consists of three families: CAT-like family, Choline/Carnitine O-acyltransferase family and NRPS condensation domain family. Chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) is one of the members of CAT-like family, which is a bacterial enzyme covalently links an acetyl group from acetyl-CoA to chloramphenicol, thus the combination of ribosomes and chloramphenicol is held back. A trimer of identical subunits forms the Chloramphenicol acetyltransferase, and the trimeric structure is firmed by several hydrogen bonds.
