Creative Biostructure offers high-quality custom Mempro™ protein production services for major facilitator superfamily using cell-free expression system.
Mempro™ cell-free protein production system is a robust and convenient system developed by Creative Biostructure for efficient production of membrane proteins. Compared to the traditional cell-based protein production system, cell free system have many advantages: high yield, less concern of toxicity, great stability, etc.
The major facilitator superfamily (MFS) is a family of membrane transport proteins that transport small substrate, such as sugars, amino acids and metabolites,in response to chemiosmotic gradients. They are found to be important in three kingdoms. MFS is a single polypeptide protein that consists of 12 transmembrane helices at N-terminus. two 6-helix bundles at C-terminus and connected by the cytoplasmic loop. The transmembrane helices and the extracellular loops have strong interactions with each others at the ends, which seal the two halves of the protein against each other, forming a clam-shell. The unique structure allows an open space at the membrane, to cytoplasm or periplasm/extracellular space. The specificity of transportation was determined by the amino acids at the cavity. In addition, many studies showed that MFS may form a dimer for its function in the cell.

Creative Biostructure is very experienced in high-yield major facilitator superfamily production using cell-free protein expression systems, various strategies are available for Mempro™ cell-free protein production, including:
Among Mempro™ Cell-Free Protein Production systems, The wheat germ system and the E. coli S30 extract system can be optimal for expressing MFS in all the three kingdoms. E. coli S30 extract system is the optimal system for major facilitator superfamily production. It has been successfully expressed in E. coli system. E. coli S30 extract system contains the translational machinery required for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic protein. It’s widely applied to a variety of membrane proteins for its fast and active production. The wheat germ system provides the cellular machinery for more complex proteins, for example those who need disulfide bond to maintain the conformation.
Creative Biostructure provides high-quality major facilitator superfamily protein in a cost-effective manner with the Mempro™ cell-free protein production platform. The protein will be produced in a cost-effective manner which will definitely ensure the progress of your research.
We also provide other types of Mempro™ membrane protein production services. Please feel free to contact us for a detailed quote.
