Magic-Angle Spinning (MAS) Solid-state NMR Service

Inquiry

Magic-Angle Spinning (MAS) solid-state NMR is a rapidly developing technique that complements X-ray crystallography, electron microscopy (EM) and solution NMR methods for the biophysical characterization of disordered protein samples, poorly crystalline or microcrystalline. In addition to structure, MAS solid-state NMR is a powerful tool for studying biomolecular dynamics because of its unique ability to distinguish between static and dynamic disorder and to characterize not only amplitudes but also timescales of motion. Creative Biostructure supports the application of this technology to a wide range of structural, dynamics and interaction studies, providing research services on the structure and dynamics of crystalline and amorphous molecular systems including polymers and biomacromolecules at atomic resolution.

Advantages of Our MAS Solid-state NMR Service

  • Characterization of large insoluble systems, including intact viruses, biomolecular assemblies, membrane-embedded systems, enzymes or fibrils, that cannot be studied with other methods.
  • Structure determination of protonated solid protein samples that are accessible using proton detected experiments.
  • Our proton detection is not limited to microcrystalline systems but can be successfully applied to fibrillar aggregates, membrane proteins, and soluble protein complexes.
  • Obtaining atomic-level insights into the conformational dynamics in various challenging systems.
