Plant cells system is another attractive system especially aiming at VLPs production because they are able to perform large scale production at low cost, decrease the risk of introducing human pathogens. And do not need expensive fermentation facilities to generate biomass. Creative Biostructure has already successfully produced custom VLPs products using tobacco plants, potato tubers, and other plant. This expression system can be delivered orally with a normal biologic function in human. The antigen expressed in plant cells system shows extensive oligomerization for formation of VLPs. Furthermore, plant cells can express both enveloped VLPs and non-enveloped VLPs. Creative Biostructure can also apply plant virus particles to present foreign epitopes as a delivery system. The major limitation of this expression system is the relative low expression level. To overcome this problem, we have developed several novel plant-expression vectors based on “deconstructed” plant viruses to enhance the expression level which can compete with mammalian cells system.  

Bacterial cells system, yeast cells system, mammalian cells system, and plant cells system provided by Creative Biostructure are the alternative expression systems for VLPs production.
